High school senior killed in Stuart crash, officials confirm

The Martin County School District announced that a high school senior has passed away due to a crash in Stuart on Thursday morning.

The school district shared in a post, “We are aware of a serious traffic incident that occurred this morning near South Fork High School. It is heartbreaking to share that the incident resulted in the loss of one of our seniors.”

The announcement came just hours before the SFHS senior class is expected to graduate at 7 p.m., according to the Martin Co. School District website.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office said at 8:58 a.m. that deputies are working alongside Martin County Fire Rescue on the crash at Pratt Whitney Road and Bulldog Way in Stuart.

Officials are urging drivers to expect Pratt Whitney Road to be closed for several hours.
