A plane with two people on board crashed in Key West on Sunday, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

According to the FAA, the plane, a Piper PA-28, crashed into mangroves after it left Key West International Airport at around 2:15 p.m.

Monroe County officials said that the plane lost power after it took off and was about 200 feet in the air, and then landed in the mangroves on the east side of the runway about 100 feet from the airport.

Rescue crews and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office then arrived at the crash site, and crews were able to extract the pilot and a passenger.

The two had minor injuries and did not want to be taken to the hospital.

The FAA will investigate.
