A motorcyclist was killed and another was seriously injured after the two Harley-Davidson motorcycles collided in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 in Hillsborough County, Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened near milepost 266 as the motorcycles were heading north on I-75 when they collided and overturned in the highway’s travel lanes, according to troopers.
Both riders a 42-year-old Odessa man and a 49-year-old Spring Hill man suffered serious injuries and were left lying in the roadway.
A 28-year-old Mulberry woman driving a Chevrolet Cruze stopped to help and parked in the inside emergency lane, investigators said.A short time later, a Dodge Challenger driven by a 22-year-old Wesley Chapel woman struck the 42-year-old motorcyclist who was still in the roadway, causing fatal injuries, troopers said.
The Challenger then left the travel lanes and crashed into the unoccupied Chevrolet Cruze.
Authorities did not immediately say whether any charges are pending as the investigation continues.
