18-year-old dies in single-vehicle rollover crash in DeSoto County

An 18-year-old died in a rollover crash in DeSoto County on Wednesday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Toyota Tacoma, driven by an 18-year-old Arcadia man, was traveling south in the left lane of US-17.

The driver of the truck attempted to change to the right lane to pass a slower vehicle and lost control, FHP said. The truck traveled off the road, entered the grass shoulder, overturned and crashed into a tree.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

FHP said the crash is still under investigation.
