Person dies after house catches fire in Thonotosassa

A person died at a hospital after they were rescued from a house fire in Thonotosassa on Thursday.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said it was called to a home on Ohio Avenue after a person called 911 to report difficulty breathing.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they said they found the home filled with smoke.

Firefighters said they entered the home and rescued one adult.

They extinguished the fire using handlines.

The person who was rescued was taken to a hospital, where they later died.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
