Accident causes delays on Highway 20, detour recommended

UPDATE 1:12 p.m: The driver of the Mack semi has passed away. FHP Traffic Homicide Unit is now conducting a fatal crash investigation.

According to FHP, at around 8:33 a.m. a yellow International truck driving north on Blue Springs Road entered the eastbound lane of SR 20 colliding with a white Mack semi hauling a dump trailer.

The semi overturned on the driver’s side in the westbound lane of SR 20, FHP said. The driver of the Mack semi, a 48-year-old Panama City man is in critical condition.

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office is warning drivers to avoid Highway 20 after a traffic accident on Monday morning.

The accident occurred at East Highway 20 and Blue Springs Road. Officials suggest drivers take Highway 388 as a detour.

The estimated length of this closure is unknown, more information will be provided if it becomes available.
