Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) firefighters said they responded to someone trapped in their car Sunday morning near Newberry Road.

ACFR’s dispatch center received multiple calls about a car that got hit and landed on its side with the driver still inside.

The road was completely blocked and one person was found inside the SUV.

ACFR firefighters used extrication tools to safely remove the victim who sustained minor injuries from the vehicle.

The scene is being investigated by Gainesville Police Department officers, according to ACFR officials.

ACFR would like to remind residents to stay alert while driving and to keep devices of distraction like phones down and away.
