A 44-year-old man from the Orlando area died after being struck in a hit-and-run by a car while attempting to cross the road late Friday night, according to investigators.
Officers say at 11:05 p.m. a 911 call reported an unconscious man lying in the road near on 45th Street, west of the I-95 interchange. West Palm Beach Fire Department paramedics pronounced the man dead shortly after arriving on scene.
The traffic homicide unit’s investigation determined the victim, identified as DR W, 44, of Altamonte Springs, was crossing 45th Street when he was struck by a silver car that took off after the crash.
Two westbound lanes were closed for four hours while evidence and photographs were collected at the scene, according to West Palm Beach Police.
The investigation revealed that the driver sped off in a silver sedan, with front end and windshield damage.
