Ambulance crew injured in crash while on duty in Port St. Lucie

Five people were taken to the hospital after an SUV and ambulance crashed in Port St. Lucie on Monday.

The St. Lucie County Fire District (SLCFD) said at around 8 a.m., a rescue crew was involved in a crash off I-95 on-ramp before PGA, while responding to a call. A photo from the scene shows major damage to the front of the ambulance.

SLCFD said the driver of the ambulance and a paramedic were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Three other people were taken to the hospital.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department is investigating the crash.
