A Leesburg woman was arrested after allegedly throwing a fork and threatening a man with scissors during an anger-induced outburst in their hotel room.
A deputy responded to the Days Inn, located at 551 E. State Road 44 in Wildwood, regarding a physical disturbance around 11:55 a.m. Friday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon arrival, the deputy met 64-year-old L S W who advised that she was in an altercation with a male victim. She was angry at him because she saw a fork in the microwave. Out of anger, she grabbed the fork and threw it, hitting the mirror before it landed in the sink, the report said.
Welch then went to the sink to retrieve scissors but did not threaten the victim with them. She tried to take a water bottle from his hands as he was walking away from her. He was waving the water bottle around, getting water everywhere, the report said.
The deputy proceeded to speak with the victim who stated he was surprised by W’s outburst of throwing the fork at the mirror. He walked over to her and observed her removing scissors from a cup by the sink. She raised them in an aggressive manner as if to hit him with them, the report said.
The victim, fearing for his safety, turned around to leave the room. As he did so, he had a bottle of water in his left hand. W followed him and tried to remove the bottle by striking his hand, which spilled water on the floor and desk, the report said.
The deputy observed bleeding from the victim’s left thumbnail. He could not determine if the injury was a result of W striking him. Additionally, the deputy noticed water on the desk, mirror and floor, the report said.
W was ultimately arrested on charges of aggravated assault and battery. She was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center to be held without bond.
