Yes! Your PIP files are worth money! Since January 2008 the insurance companies have been paying 80% of medical bills that they capped at 200% of Medicare fee schedule. They were actually supposed to pay 80% of whatever a doctor billed. This means that you are basically owed money for every single patient if you sent a bill to PIP insurance. There are a few exceptions but 99% of the medical providers who billed PIP are owed money.
For example, let’s assume that a doctor charges $40 to apply a hot/cold pack to a patient for therapy. PIP insurance companies from 2008-2012 were wrongfully limiting that hot pack to $10 which is 200% of Medicare. That means that the doctor in this situation is owed an extra $30 for every hot pack they billed. How many times do you bill for a hot pack in a week? in a year? in five years? As you can see, the insurance companies could owe a doctor thousands just for that one CPT code!
How many times did your patient get his PIP benefits cut off by an IME doctor? We fight those too!
The good news is that a PIP attorney can get you paid on these types of claims with no out-of-pocket expense. If there is no recovery then there is no fee.
