The Port St. Lucie Police Department is investigating a stabbing. The police department said 60-year-old Jose Perez Perez was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
The police department said it responded early Monday to St. Lucie Medical Center because a victim had arrived at the hospital to a stab wound to his chest.
The police department’s initial investigation revealed that P P and the victim engaged in an argument at the residence on the 2200 block of SE Longhorn Avenue. When officers arrived at the home, they discovered PP, the brother-in-law of the victim, in a bedroom with a kitchen knife still in his chest.
PP was transported to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital by the St. Lucie County Fire District. Detectives were able to determine that the victim had a discussion with Perez over land that was owned by the victim in their home country of Guatemala.
According to the police department, P asked for a piece of the land and an argument began. PP armed himself with a knife and stabbed the victim. The victim was able to disarm PP and stab P with the knife.
According to the police department, the victim went to another family member at the home and had them transport him to the hospital.
During its investigation, detectives determined that P P was the primary aggressor in the incident.
The police department said the victim is in the hospital, but is expected to survive, while PP is in the hospital under guard by the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.
