‘Armed and considered dangerous:’ Suspect sought after 1 shot in Winter Springs, police say

A person was shot Saturday evening in Winter Springs and hospitalized in critical but stable condition as police now search for a suspect.

Investigators on Sunday obtained an arrest warrant for Rey Antonio Sands, 31. Sands, pictured at the top of this story, faces charges of attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in connection with the shooting, police said.

Police said the shooting happened on South Edgemon Avenue, just before 8 p.m.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to officers.

Police said the victim and the suspect “appear to know each other,” but the victim was not cooperating as of Saturday night.

Sands is believed to be armed and dangerous, according to police. Those with possible information about Sands’ whereabouts are urged to contact the police department at 407-327-1000, or Crimeline at 800-423-8477 to remain anonymous.
