One man is dead after Charlotte County deputies opened fire when they say he raised a gun and pointed it at them Thursday night.
According to Sheriff Bill Prummell, at 5:16 p.m., dispatchers received calls about a man walking up and down the 2600 block of Eager Road yelling, “Where are the cops at?” while shooting a gun into the air.
When deputies arrived at the scene at 5:30 p.m., they said they saw a man, identified as MLS, 53.
S was sitting in a chair on the porch of a home. That’s when deputies say, as they approached the home, S stood up and raised a gun in the direction of the deputies.
That’s when deputies opened fire, shooting and killing S.
Prummell said the incident is under investigation and that no deputies were injured.
