Six dogs are dead and a woman is in the hospital after an oven sparked a house fire in Cape Coral Sunday morning.
The Cape Coral Fire District, Cape Coral Police Department and the Lee County Domestic Animal Service responded to the scene on 1509 SE 19th Lane where they said at least six dogs were found dead, and three were revived.
Fire crews said one woman was found unresponsive inside the home at the time of the fire. She was taken to the hospital and her condition is unknown at this time.
According to crews, someone left the stove on by accident and went to work with it on. The woman reportedly went into cardiac arrest, but she was successfully resurrected.
Crime scene tape is up around the area and investigators are taking pictures of evidence. The State Fire Marshal has taken over the investigation.
