Attacker removes shoes from unconscious victim in Doral parking lot, police say

A fight over a pair of shoes recently prompted a man to ambush and attack a family friend in a parking lot in Miami-Dade County, according to police.

Surveillance video shows J “Z” Z arriving at the crime scene on Thursday night in Doral in his girlfriend’s black Porsche Macan, according to police.

Detectives reported Z confronted the victim who had been spending time with friends at Twin Peaks, a bar and restaurant at 8700 NW 18 Terrace.

Surveillance video shows that after Z’s punch, the victim fell and appeared unconscious when Z “forcefully” removed the shoes that the victim was wearing and fled, according to police.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel found the 24-year-old victim who had suffered a brain bleed and took him to the HCA Florida Kendall Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

A detective reported witnesses described Z, 24, as a “hot head” whose mother was friends with the victim’s mother.

After an investigation, a defense attorney helped to arrange Z’s surrender on Friday, police said. Records show correctional deputies booked him at about 1:20 p.m., on Friday, and he appeared in court on Saturday.

Z faced charges of attempted murder and strongarm robbery. A judge ordered him to stay away from the victim and set his bond at $20,000.

Court records show Z’s arraignment hearing is at 9 a.m., on April 28. Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Carlos H. Gamez was set to preside over the case.

Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
