ATV passenger dies over a month later after collision with power pole in Loxahatchee

High-speed ATV chase in Vero Beach sees men flee with kids, crash into fence

LOXAHATCHEE, Fla. (CBS12) — The passenger of an ATV died after colliding with a power pole in Loxahatchee.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) said on March 8, a Yamaha ATV — with two men onboard — was headed south on 120th Avenue N. approaching 72nd Court North, when it attempted to pass a slower-moving vehicle in front of it.

As the ATV passed the slower vehicle on the left shoulder, the crash report said the driver of the ATV lost control and swerved onto the roadway and then onto the western shoulder before colliding with a power pole.

As a result of the collision, the passenger of the ATV — 52-year-old Shawn Dosh — was critically injured when his side of the vehicle collided into the power pole, PBSO said.

Both the driver of the ATV and Dosh were rushed to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment. But tragically, on April 12, Dosh succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The crash report did not indicate whether the driver of the ATV will face charges.
