A bicyclist was injured after police say he rode into the path of an en-route patrol car on Thursday afternoon.

The officer was responding to a call on 15th Street and Dixie Highway with lights and sirens activated, according to West Palm Beach Police Department spokesperson Mike Jachles.

However, as the officer reached 17th Street, a man on a bicycle rode into the path of the patrol car, said Jachles. The officer’s vehicle then collided with the bicyclist.

Jachles emphasized that the officer was not speeding at the time of the incident.

Fortunately, the cyclist’s injuries were minor, police said. Video confirms the officer was not at fault in the collision, said Jachles.
