Bicyclist killed in crash with semitruck in Orange County

A bicyclist was killed Thursday morning in a crash with a semitruck in Orange County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened just after 6 a.m. on Orange Avenue near Prince Street.

According to FHP, the bicyclist was not in a marked crosswalk and tried to cross Orange Avenue, entering the path of an oncoming semitruck.

The front of the semi hit the bicyclist, troopers said.

The driver, a 52-year-old Tarpon Springs man, was uninjured and remained on-scene.

There is some roadblock in the northbound lanes of Orange Avenue due to the crash.

An investigation is ongoing.
