Bonita Springs house fire leaves home severely damaged

A late-night fire severely damaged a home in Bonita Springs, leaving most of the structure burned. No serious injuries were reported, but a family member suffered a minor foot injury while attempting to put out the flames.

According to the battalion chief on the scene, the fire started around 11:17 p.m. Tuesday at home on Spring Creek Drive.

The homeowners woke up to the smell of smoke and attempted to put the fire out before realizing it was growing too large.

Crews arrived to find the house engulfed in flames. While the homeowners were able to escape safely, one person burned their foot trying to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters said the investigation remains ongoing as they work to assess the extent of the damage.

Fire officials are still working to determine the cause.
