A Fruitland Park woman was arrested for battery when her boyfriend drove her to a police station for punching him over affair allegations.
Officers were flagged down by a man in the parking lot of the Leesburg Police Department, located at 115 E. Magnolia St., around 11:56 a.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the LPD. The man approached the secured area of the department, saying that he needed help. Officers spoke to the man who explained he was the victim of a battery, and the perpetrator, later identified as 24-year-old D R P, was also at the police station.
The victim advised that while driving from the gas station on Perkins Street and West North Boulevard, a verbal argument erupted between him and P, his girlfriend, regarding affair allegations from her. She had seen a former girlfriend of his on his Snapchat friend’s list, and she was demanding to see his phone. He did not want to, so she struck him in the face with a closed fist one time, the report said.
After this, the victim asked P to get out of the vehicle, which she refused to do. He proceeded to drive to the LPD to report the incident to law enforcement. She started yelling and acting aggressively toward him when they arrived at the police department, taking his phone and stomping on it, the report said.
The victim told officers that P was a woman standing on the sidewalk in front of the police department. While speaking with him, the officer observed redness above his right eye where he indicated he was struck, the report said.
The officers then approached P as she stood on the sidewalk. She advised that she and the victim were driving to lunch when she noticed he was messaging his ex-girlfriend on his phone. She admitted they started arguing about the situation but denied it ever becoming physical. P also stated she never damaged the victim’s phone, and it had been damaged for some time, the report said.
Both the victim and P advised that they were in a dating relationship, and they shared a child in common, the report said.
P was charged with simple battery (domestic) and transported to Lake County Jail. She was released after posting $1,000 bond.
