Broward man accused of stabbing mother and brother in Allapattah

A 33-year-old Pompano Beach man is facing attempted murder charges after police said he stabbed his mother and brother in separate attacks back in March.

Jail records show E J is facing two counts of attempted murder.

Miami police said the first incident happened on March 18 at a home near the 1400 block of Northwest 26th Street in the city’s Allapattah neighborhood.

J’s brother told police he was attacked after answering a knock at his door. According to an arrest report, the victim fled to the backyard, but J chased him, grabbed him, and stabbed him with a knife.

A witness told investigators he intervened by striking the ground with a shovel, prompting J to back off. Police said J walked away and placed the knives on the sidewalk as officers arrived.

The arrest report also detailed a prior incident involving J’s mother on March 11. Police said they found her lying in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor of her home, suffering from a severe neck wound.

Both victims were critically injured and taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center and arrested J in connection with both incidents.

Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the stabbings.

As of Wednesday, J is being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
