The Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a woman appeared to accidentally shoot herself late Monday night outside Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, authorities confirmed.
According to BSO spokeswoman G St. L, deputies from BSO’s Airport District responded to a shooting call near the airport’s exit at 11:46 p.m.
Detectives said the victim told them she was placing her gun back inside a waist holster while inside her car when it discharged.
Authorities confirmed that the woman was struck during the incident and paramedics transported her to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to St. L, the victim’s injuries were listed as not life-threatening.
The circumstances surrounding the accidental shooting remain under investigation.
