Cape Coral road shut down after crash, investigation underway

 CAPE CORAL, Fla. —

A van crashed into a tanker truck along Cape Coral Parkway West and Chiquita Boulevard South on Sunday morning

The Cape Coral Police Department says the intersection is blocked off as they investigate

The road has been closed for almost seven hours.

NBC2 crews at the scene saw a white minivan that crashed with a tanker truck near Circle K and Walgreens along Cape Coral Parkway.

The front half of the van crashed into the truck around 2:30 a.m.

CCPD and the Cape Coral Fire Department responded to the scene early this morning.

Maria Kost, who lives nearby, said it was scary and sad to see.

“I actually live right down the street. And I bike here all the time. I walk around here all the time. There’s two lanes that you need to make a turn on Cape Coral Parkway. Basically, it’s something to tell your kids, your family, that be careful.”

It is unknown how long the road will be shut down.
