On Wednesday, around 9 p.m., a single-family home burst into flames off of Chiquita Boulevard in northwest Cape Coral.
Neighbors said the fire was likely caused by a downed transformer.
There are several downed transformers in Cape Coral caused by the strong wind from Milton.
The Cape Coral Fire Department was unable to respond due to the hurricane. Neighbors said the flames went out eventually by themselves.
Around ten neighbors watched as the home was engulfed in flames. They said one person was home but left. No one was injured.
Thursday morning, WINK News was on the scene and saw that the house was unfixable. The roof and the inside of the home is completely gone. All that remains is the outside structure of the building.
The owner of the home told WINK he is OK.
