A head-on collision that ended in a fire occurred on River Road, south of West Villages Parkway, in Sarasota County.
The Florida Highway Patrol said it happened around 3 a.m. on Tuesday. Post-collision, the first vehicle reportedly became engulfed in flames while the other was overturned.
The first driver was pronounced dead on the scene. The second driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.
FHP is currently investigating the crash.
