Student arrested after weapon found on Seminole High School campus

A student was arrested during the summer session at Seminole High School after someone tipped off investigators that they had brought a weapon to campus, according to the district. A message sent to parents said the weapon was found inside the student’s backpack; however, the student had not threatened anyone with it. The message did not reveal any information about the student’s identity or what charges they might face. The district also did not say what type of weapon the student brought onto campus.

Crash On I-95 Near Yamato Slowing Traffic

UPDATE: At 7:49 a.m., both situations are resolving but congestion remains heavy in the area. A major crash on I-95 northbound in the area of Yamato Road is slowing traffic in the area. A 54-year-old woman was killed and a baby boy was taken to the hospital after a single-vehicle crash in unincorporated St. Lucie County on Tuesday afternoon.  St. Pete Police are searching for a person with information on a fatal hit-and-run late Tuesday night. Man accused of fatal hit-and-run in Port Charlotte

The Florida Highway Patrol and the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man for a fatal hit-and-run that occurred in Port Charlotte.
