Hernando County Fire Rescue said crews responded to the crash site, where they found the single-engine plane and its two occupants. Crews discovered that the occupants attempted to land the plane on Pine Island Drive after it lost engine power but struck a palm tree, which was nearly severed in half. Police are investigating a collision between a vehicle and a bicyclist on Veronica Shoemaker Boulevard that appears to be fatal. Veronica Shoemaker Boulevard lanes have reopened, and the scene has cleared. Before the scene cleared, Fort Myers Police and community volunteer units were blocking Veronica Shoemaker Boulevard southbound Friday. The crash happened by Trailhead Park, just before noon. There did appear to be a body in the road, however, police have yet to confirm that this is a fatal crash.

A Collier County man has been convicted of molesting a child following a three-day trial. According to the state attorney, 49-year-old Matthew Edward Zink was convicted of two counts of molestation on Wednesday evening. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Zink after an investigation. The investigation revealed that multiple incidents happened over several months in 2021. The investigation began after a child told a family member they had been molested by Zink. The family member then told

The batteries on electric vehicles cannot be extinguished by water, or anything else once they catch fire. Stories like this are becoming all too common on America’s roadways. A man has died following a boating accident Thursday afternoon in Santa Rosa County. A Santa Rosa County spokesperson says the call came in at 2:31 p.m. about a person that fell from a boat near the Archie Glover Boat Ramp close to the Escambia Bay Bridge.
