Hernando County Fire Rescue was called to a home in the 27000 block of Roper Road in Brooksville shortly after 1 p.m. for reports of a fire. When crews arrived, they found heavy fire in the kitchen and performed an “aggressive” strategy to quickly extinguish the flames, fire rescue said. Firefighters rescued five dogs and three cats from the blaze.
