A 54-year-old Brooksville woman died on Monday, Jan. 22, after a one-car accident, the Florida Highway Patrol said. At about 7:45 a.m., her Nissan Altima was traveling west on Wiscon Road.  West of Mobley Road, for an unknown reason, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which departed the roadway, entered the north shoulder and struck a tree.  The unrestrained driver suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. A fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred in Plantation is under investigation. It happened Saturday just before 8 p.m. near the intersection of Northwest 31st Avenue and Broward Boulevard in Lauderhill. According to police, officers responded to the scene and found a man in the road who was suffering from multiple injuries after being struck by a vehicle. Police in Lakeland say a 61-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman are dead after what appears to be a murder-suicide Saturday. One person has been airlifted after a major crash along the Palmetto Expressway early Monday morning prompted lane closures at Interstate 75. A man was killed early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash on I-75 in Sarasota County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
