First responders were dispatched around 2 p.m. to South Orange Avenue and Jetport Drive, reporting an “auto accident with heavy entrapment on the train tracks,” according to Orange County Fire Rescue. A couple and their dog were floating around the Gulf of Mexico after their boat became disabled. It happened Saturday, just north of Tampa. Apparently, a porthole in their sailboat broke and the boat started taking on water, according to the Coast Guard. While the boat wasn’t sinking, the water damaged the boat’s electronics. The couple couldn’t call for help, but they had registered their boat for a digital selective calling (DSC) alert, which pinged their last known location to the U.S.

A pedestrian was struck and killed while attempting to cross U.S. 301 in Hillsborough County Monday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. According to FHP, a GMC SUV was driving south on US-301, north of SR-674, when a pedestrian attempted to cross the highway. The pedestrian entered the path of the SUV and was struck by the vehicle.
