A Clearwater father has died after a swimming incident Friday evening, police said. The Clearwater Police Department said Rigoberto Romero, 49, of Clearwater and his son were both near the jetty along South Gulfview Boulevard when they began struggling in the water. A man was arrested after he allegedly shot four people in Daytona Beach Saturday, police said.  Around 2:10 a.m., police saw people fighting near the 600 block of North Grandview Avenue. A Port Charlotte priest was arrested Wednesday on multiple counts of capital sexual battery, with allegations connected to his previous tenure in the 1980s as a priest in Iowa. Prosecutors filed a case with 13 charges against a 24-year-old man on Saturday in Miami-Dade County court over alleged crimes committed at a business in Miami’s Wynwood area. Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to a call about a child being pulled from a pool on Island Estates Saturday. Man pleads guilty to killing girlfriend, holding Clay County couple hostage in 2022.

A man accused of manslaughter for killing his girlfriend and kidnapping for holding a Clay County couple hostage in 2022, pled guilty to all of the charges against him. On April 1, Aubrey Lumpkin pled guilty to manslaughter, tampering with evidence, armed robbery, kidnapping and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
