Fort Myers police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed by two cars on Ortiz Avenue shortly after being released from the Lee County Jail. Officers said the victim had just been released from the Lee County Jail which sits along Ortiz Ave, near SR-82 and I-75. One person is dead after a driver hit a pedestrian along I-75 in Collier County on Tuesday. The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene in the northbound lanes shortly after 11 a.m. According to reports, the pedestrian was working for a private company and laying sod on the northbound inside shoulder of I-75.  Newly released video shows the moments police found a pregnant mother stabbed to death in Hallandale Beach. Police have since said the father of her children confessed to the crime. Back on Nov. 12, Hallandale Beach police received a call from a day care saying that two children, ages 8 and 9, were not picked up by their mother. A 74-year-old Walton County man was killed in a hit-and-run Sunday afternoon while walking on the street where he lived. The sheriff’s office identified the man Monday as Charles “Lucky” Sydenstricker. The crash took place on Nowling Road in DeFuniak Springs around 3:30 p.m. Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the fatal hit-and-run. A worker was taken to the hospital after a train car rolled over his foot in Bradford County on Monday.
