A man is recovering after a woman attacked him with a machete and severed the tip of his thumb in North Fort Myers. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrested Sheila King on Saturday night and charged her with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, stating that King internally harmed the man and caused permanent bodily disfigurement. Just a day after a shrimp boat’s outrigger caused a major traffic disruption, the same boat hit the Matanzas Pass Bridge again on Tuesday morning. On Tuesday morning, the Florida Department of Transportation reported the the Matanzas Pass Bridge was hit by the same shrimp boat from Monday’s crash. FDOT described the boat’s outrigger striking the bridge after which, the shrimp boat backed away. A Lee County marine unit reported no visible damage to the bridge, and the bridge remains open.

A driver hit a pedestrian crossing the street in Tampa early Tuesday morning.
