Miami Beach firefighters extinguished a fire that erupted early Wednesday morning inside an apartment unit, a city spokeswoman confirmed to Local 10 News.

According to the spokeswoman, Lissi Hernandez, the fire was reported around 4:50 a.m. inside a fourth floor unit at 5255 Collins Ave.

Hernandez said the fire was contained to the unit.

She said one person was inside at the time, but they were evaluated at the scene by fire rescue units and did not need to be transported to the hospital.

According to Hernandez, the cause of the fire remains under investigation, however officials believe a charging scooter is to blame.
