Chipley man dead after crash in Washington County

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash in Washington County on Sunday.

Troopers said the incident happened at 4:21 a.m. on Clayton Road near Gainer Road.

According to a news release, a 20-year-old Chipley man was driving west on Clayton Rd when he drifted across the eastbound lane and then off the shoulder. The truck then swerved back onto the roadway drifted across both lanes and began to overturn.

Troopers confirmed the driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

The truck collided with a fence and the driver was reportedly killed.
