More details surrounding the deadly train collision in Citra have been released.
Early Sunday morning, Marion County sheriff’s deputies were alerted to an accident in which a train collided with a vehicle at a railroad crossing on Citra’s Northeast 175th Street Road.
According to officials, the car broke down on the train tracks, and all three occupants exited the vehicle. Lynn Foley, 43, stayed on the tracks with the vehicle.
A Southbound train began to approach the stopped vehicle and attempted to alert the vehicle’s driver and stop.
For unknown reasons, the Foley remained on the tracks, and the train, unable to stop, collided with the vehicle and pedestrian.
When deputies arrived, they found Foley dead.
