Clay county crash leaves man from Starke dead

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers said a man is dead after a crash in Middleburg.

The victim was a 44-year-old man from Starke who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Investigators say he was traveling westbound on Carter Spencer Road negotiating a curve when he left the roadway to the right.

He then traveled through a fence, into a tree and sustained fatal injuries.

He was pronounced dead at the Orange Park Medical Center.

FHP Corporal R. Davenport is the lead homicide investigator on this case.
