Clearwater woman tries to shoot security guard after smoke shop dispute: police

A woman was arrested early Saturday morning after Clearwater police said she tried to shoot a security guard following a dispute at a local smoke shop.

K K, 36, was escorted out of the shop, located off of Gulf to Bay Boulevard, shortly before midnight after authorities said she got into a fight with someone inside the store.

She then went to her car, grabbed a gun, and aimed it at the security guard, officials reported.

K reportedly tried to fire the weapon several times, but, according to the police department, the gun malfunctioned.

Afterward, authorities said K went back to her car and got inside. K continued pointing the weapon at the guard and tried to fire it once more as she was driving off, police reported.

Officers had already arrived at the scene by the time K drove around and passed back by the smoke shop. The security guard reportedly spotted her car and informed detectives that she was the suspect.

Police said K tried to flee but officers were able to catch up with her and take her into custody.

She was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on charges for aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, driving under the influence and fleeing and eluding.

Authorities said K was also charged for introducing contraband into a detention facility after they found three bullets she had hidden in her bra.
