Crash with semi-truck kills man and woman in Hernando County, Florida Highway Patrol says

A 72-year-old man and an 86-year-old woman were killed Sunday afternoon after their car was hit by a semi-truck near U.S. Highway 301 in Hernando County.

The crash happened at 1:49 p.m., Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said in a news release. The man and the woman were traveling east on State Route 50 while the semi-truck, driven by a 66-year-old man from Iowa, was traveling west on the same road.

At the intersection of US-301, the man and woman reportedly turned left into the path of the semi-truck before they were hit. Troopers said they both died from their injuries.

The 66-year-old driving the semi-truck had no injuries, according to the agency.
