Crashes in both Turnpike directions causing major slowdown in Lake County

Two separate accidents on the Florida Turnpike are causing major slowdowns in both the north and southbound lanes across a large stretch of Lake County.

The accidents both occurred before noon today, according to information obtained from the FL511.com.

At around 11:39 a.m., multiple vehicles were involved in an accident near mile marker 274 in the northbound lanes of the highway. As of 12:30 p.m., traffic was backed up for several miles back to mile marker 270.

That accident seemingly involved two vehicles, according to witnesses on the highway.

Another minor crash took place around 15 minutes later in the southbound lanes of the highway, just before mile marker 276.

That accident seemingly involved multiple vehicles, with two showing visible damage and several others showing minor damage.

In that instance, traffic was backed up for several miles until about mile marker 280, as of 12:30 p.m.

No further details were immediately available regarding the crashes.
