Critical Crash Closes Lyons, Century Village Boca Driver Allegedly Drunk or Drugged

A major crash on Lyons Road around 10:30 Wednesday morning shut Lyons in both directions near Century Village, causing massive traffic problems in the area. The crash was ultimately cleared around noon.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office tells BocaNewsNow.com that Steven LoMastro, 63, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol or drugs when he was “traveling northbound on Lyons Road approaching the intersection of New England Boulevard at a high rate of speed.” While he was heading north, two vehicles were heading south on Lyons. A Tesla Model T and a Land Rover.

“LoMastro failed to maintain control of his Hyundai Elantra,” according to police, “and crossed over the raised center median into the southbound lane of travel. The Hyundai collided with the Tesla’s front, then rotated counterclockwise and the rear of the Hyundai struck the front of the Land Rover.”

LoMastro was transported to Delray Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the Tesla sustained minor injuries and was also transported to Delray Medical Center. The driver of the Land Rover was treated on the scene. Police say criminal charges are pending for Steven LoMastro who lists the 500 section of “Mansfield N” in Century Village as his home address.
