A customer at a Tampa business was killed Monday night after being shot by an employee, according to police.
Officers with the Tampa Police Department said they received a call around 6:14 p.m. regarding a disturbance at the business located off of North Nebraska Avenue.
Police found a man with a gunshot wound once they arrived at the location. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries, according to the police department.
Investigators believe the shooting may have been the result of a fight between the customer and an employee. Officers were still trying to gather more information Monday night.
One man who said he was inside the store when the shooting happened told News Channel 8 that he heard a gunshot and then he and a handful of other people ran outside.
“I’ve been living here for eight years now, and this is the first time I’ve seen a crime like this,” CR said. “I don’t know what happened.”
The employee is cooperating with the investigation, and police said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
No further information was immediately available.
