Two people are recovering in the hospital after a bike and moped crashed in Putnam County.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 42-year-old man was driving a moped south on Carter Crabtree Road Wednesday evening.

The man crashed into someone on a bike traveling in the opposite direction.

Troopers say the area was dark with no street lighting and neither person had proper lighting equipment or helmets on.

The cyclist was transported to Putnam Community Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the moped driver was flown to UF Shands Gainesville with serious injuries.
