One woman is dead and three others were injured after a four-vehicle crash closed SR-82 in Lehigh Acres Wednesday morning.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene near 40th Street SW around 7 a.m.
After investigations, Troopers said a 32-year-old Immokalee man was driving a van west on SR-82 in the same direction as a Lehigh Acres woman in the outside lane.
The van rear-ended the car, sending it off the road and into a light pole.
The van then crossed over the median, crashing into a sign before heading into oncoming traffic.
The van hit the side of an SUV before hitting a second SUV head-on.
Troopers said the driver of the van was seriously injured, as well as a 36-year-old SUV driver from Lehigh Acres.
A 52-year-old passenger in the SUV that was struck head-on was taken to the hospital where she died, according to FHP.
The crash closed all lanes of traffic as troopers investigated the scene.
