A person is dead after a major crash involving a Publix 18-wheeler and a Ford F-250 blocked off an intersection in Miami Gardens.
The crash happened shortly after 3 a.m. Monday outside the Publix warehouse in the 18300 block of NW Miami Court, shutting down roads in the area.
According to Miami Gardens Police, the driver of a Publix freightliner was making a left turn from NW Miami Court in order to travel westbound on NW 183 Street.
The driver of the Ford-250 was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop, which caused the driver to collide with the trailer, police said.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue pronounced the driver of the F-250 deceased on the scene.
Video captured by Chopper 6 showed a Publix big rig and a pickup truck were involved in the crash as police blocked off the road in both directions.
At this time, police have not released the identity of the driver killed, but the investigation is ongoing.
