Delray Beach police identify pedestrian hit, killed by Brightline

A fatal collision involving a pedestrian and Brightline train on Monday has closed a road in Delray Beach, police said.

According to a post on X just before 11 a.m. by police, the incident occurred near the intersection of Atlantic and Railroad avenues.

The Delray Beach Police Department identified the pedestrian as a 56-year-old man from Palm Beach County who took his own life. Police say witnesses reported seeing the man deliberately step on the tracks, resulting in the fatal collision.

The incident was reported around 10:15 a.m. Monday.

Delray Beach police said they are still working with Brightline to complete the investigation.
