A 50-year-old Navarre man is dead after a crash outside a Destin hotel on Friday morning.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office says the victim was driving a black Dodge Charger when he ran off the road, crashing down an embankment.
They say he then hit several parked vehicles outside of the Hampton Inn & Suites on Scenic Hwy 98.
According to deputies, the victim was ejected at the scene. Deputies say they tried using CPR on the victim. But EMS declared him to be dead.
The victim’s vehicle caught fire around 5:20 a.m., deputies say. They were working to put out the fire with extinguishers.
The Destin Fire Department later got involved and succeeded in extinguishing the flames.
No one else was injured, says deputies. The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the victim’s death.
