A 24-year-old Pensacola man is charged for a shooting early Sunday morning at the Waffle House on Brent Lane in Escambia County.
Dequanterrice Luckey is facing these charges:
- attempted murder
- aggravated assault with a weapon
- disorderly conduct
- selling drugs
- selling marijuana
- firing a weapon in public or on residential property
- possession of weapon by convicted felon
According to the sheriff’s office, the incident happened just after midnight on Sunday.
The arrest report states a man arrived at the Waffle House to eat. As he was walking in, Luckey asked him for a cigarette and he gave him one.
According to the report, the man then went inside and ordered before coming back out and sitting on the curb outside the door. Luckey asked him for a dollar, but the man said no.
The report states Luckey pulled out a gun a short time later and fired a shot at the man. The bullet struck a concrete pole in front of the man and ricocheted into his buttock.
According to the report, the man went inside the Waffle House saying he had been shot. Customers inside ran to the bathroom in the back of the restaurant, while one man ran outside to leave the situation.
The report states Luckey chased that man around the building until he ran back inside the restaurant.
Luckey then beat on the glass with a gun, according to the report.
The report states Luckey set down 20 repackaged bags of pills, suspected to be MDMA, near the door.
Deputies detained Luckey a short time later near Pensacola Christian Academy.
Luckey is being held in Escambia County Jail without bond.
