Deputies are searching for a victim of an attempted carjacking on Monday night at a Circle K in Pace.
Around 8:40 p.m., deputies responded to the area due to a report of a two-vehicle collision with injuries, according to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say dispatch was advised that one of the people had exited their car and was walking around armed with a tire iron.
Upon arrival, the suspect identified as 50-year-old Brian Joseph Stacken was instructed to drop the object. He ignored the deputies’ commands and fled on foot to the nearby Circle K, according to Deputies.
Deputies say in the parking lot, Stacken attempted to open the empty car. He was unsuccessful, so he moved to a moving car with a driver inside.
The release says the Stacken attempted to jump through the passenger window. Due to him being armed, the victim was instructed to drive away to prevent the Stacken from entering, according to deputies.
The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office says that due to Stacken resisting arrest, deputies deployed non-lethal use of force and took him into custody.
He was transported to a medical center for evaluation and then transported to the Santa Rosa Detention Facility.
Stacken is currently being charged with the following:
- Aggravated Assault on specified personnel (2 counts)
- Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon without intent
- Burglary conveyance (Armed)
- Resist arrest without violence
Deputies are requesting the victim of the occupied car to come forward.
The release states that the car e has a light-colored possibly white graphic on the rear right passenger window.
